随着现代科技的发展，各类雕刻机械的雕刻精度越来越高。但机械始终是机械，其精度再高也无法达到完全无误的地步，所以现在很多雕刻机所认为的精度大多都是相对精度。在众多的雕刻机械中，模具雕刻机也许不是技术含量较高的一种，但确是精度要求较高的一种。
